WPBA Colorado Classic Results

On September 21, 2009, in Contests, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

First off, congrats to Ga Young Kim on winning the Colorado Classic.  She played beautifully all weekend.  Second, a huge congrats to our own Sarah Rousey for knocking off 2008 WPBA Champion Monica Webb and finishing tied for 9th!  If you ever have the chance to go to one of these WPBA events, you really should go.  The events are a blast, the players are extremely friendly and approachable and the I guarantee you’ll have a good time.

Now on to business.  As you all know, we’re running a pick’em game for every WPBA event this year, so without further adieu, the winners of the 2009 Colorado Classic Pick’em are:

1st Place: Brian Bolen of Sacramento, CA
2nd Place: Michael Barela of Las Vegas, NM
3rd Place: Karen Belcher of Lancaster, KY
4th Place: Nicole Gauthier of L’Anse, MI
5th Place: Rhonda Green of Inglewood, CA

For those of you that didn’t win, fear not!  The 2009 Pacific Coast Classic Pick’em game is now open, so feel free to head on over and get your picks in for next month’s event.

Last Chance for the US Open Pick’em

On July 27, 2009, in Contests, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

The WPBA US Open kicks off this week, which means that you’ve only got a couple more days to get your picks in for the free WPBA Pick’em Challenge.  Same rules as always.  You pick the Top 8, the five best pickers win some dawg dough.

Lots of familiar faces for the most popular picks this time around.  Fresh off her win at the Borderline Billiards satellite event, Karen Corr is now the top choice to win the US Open. Despite a win at the WPBA Great Lakes Classic, Jasmin Ouschan has yet to crack the list of top vote getters.  The Top 5 picks look like this:

1. Karen Corr
2. Allison Fisher
3. Kelly Fisher
4. Ga Young Kim
5. Jeanette Lee

Unfortunately, there won’t be any live streaming, as the Riverwind Casino can’t spare the bandwidth, but I’ll be updating match scores in all of Sarah Rousey’s matches as they come in on Twitter.

Frank and Sarah Rousey Gettin' Cozy

Its official.  The grumpy munchkin is now officially representing PoolDawg for the 2009 WPBA season.  Since she did such a nice job for us at the Great Lakes Classic and the Borderline Billiards event, we thought we’d make it official and bring her on for the rest of the year.  Here’s the official press release:

Back from the Coast

On October 6, 2008, in APA, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

Hangover be damned!  I was determined to make it back into the office today and sure enough here I am, Monday morning to report on the wild times in Oregon.  After landing in Portland, I grabbed my rental car and hit the road for what I thought was going to be a 2 hour drive to Lincoln City.  Instead of using my handy dandy Magellen GPS to lead the way though I decided to try and kick it old school with a map.  4 hours and countless stops for directions later, I did finally arrive at the Chinook Winds Resort.

The place was pretty damn swanky… much nicer than I expected.  The last time I’d been to an Indian Casino was when I was in college driving through Palm Springs so I wasn’t expecting much.  This place was like a mini-vegas hotel though.  Anyway, I got checked in and somehow managed to pull a room with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.

After getting settled in I headed over to the APA room to check out the scene.  Didn’t take too long to find her though… I just looked for the tallest girl in the room and like a beacon of light, there she was playing in some of the mini-tournaments the APA was running with drink in hand.

All I can say is that if you ever have the opportunity to attend a WPBA event, you will not be disappointed.  Melissa Morris, Sarah Rousey and Debbie were even able to get me out on the dance floor which is something that hasn’t happened since my Bar Mitzvah.  I also had the extreme pleasure of hanging out with the infamous OMGWTF who is just as funny in person as she is on her blog.

We’ll be helping Frank get his pictures up on Frank’s Blog in the next couple days, so be sure to stay tuned for that.

WPBA Carolina Classic Final Results

On September 14, 2008, in WPBA, by Michael Feiman

Congratulations to Jasmin Ouschan on winning the 2008 Carolina Classic.  After being sent to the one loss side early on in the tournament by Sarah Rousey, Ouschan battled her way back to the round of 16 redraw and then took command of the tournament.  First she took down Kelly Fisher 9-4, then battled past Xiaoting Pan 9-7 to make her way to the semi-finals.

Once in the semis, she took down The Texas Tornado Vivian Villarreal 7-1 to reach the finals against The Black Widow herself, Jeanette Lee.  Ouschan simply could do no wrong, finishing off Lee 7-1 to take the championship.  Next up for the WPBA is the Pacific Coast Classic in Lincoln City, Oregon October 1-5.

More Adventures with Debbie and Frank

On August 6, 2008, in Fun with Frank, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

Our girl Debbie Schjodt had a tough run at the US Open, but that didn’t stop her and Frank from having a good time and representing for PoolDawg!  In addition to playing in the tournament, Debbie spent hours playing challenge matches and doing the meet and greet with fans which is why we so dig our Tequila Schjodt.

After the US Open, Frank, Debbie and the ladies of the WPBA decided to let loose at a local karaoke bar.  If you check out Frank’s Myspace Page and go to his photo album, you’ll find tons of pictures of Frank hanging out with Sarah Rousey, Ga Young Kim, Xiao Ting Pan, Jasmin Ouschan, Monica Webb, US Open Champ Kelly Fisher and tons of other women from the tour.

Speaking of Frank’s MySpace page, Frank is really on the prowl for friends and he’s not above bribing people.  Just for the MySpacers, we’re going to start doing a monthly giveaway.  Every month, Frank will be choosing someone to get a $25 gift certificate.  If you have a MySpace page and you want in on the action, just send a friend request.

Last thing, I wanted to thank everyone on the WPBA tour who took the time to take all those pictures with Frank.  You gals are the best!!
