WPBA Colorado Classic Pick’em Is Live

On August 17, 2009, in Contests, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

The new pick’em for the WPBA Colorado Classic is now live.  There are a few slots that haven’t been determined (as the qualifiers still are up in the air), but you can go ahead and register your picks anytime between now and 9/16/09.

As this is a new event and its in our backyard (well, its way south of us, but its still in Colorado, so we’ll call it our backyard), we’ve decided to bump up the prizes a bit.  Just for this event, we’ve increased all five of the prizes:

1st: $125 Gift Certificate
2nd: $100 Gift Certificate
3rd: $75 Gift Certificate
4th: $50 Gift Certificate
5th: $25 Gift Certificate

Other than that, same rules as always. Pick who you think will finish in the Top 8. Points are given out based on where your players finish: 1st gets 160, 2nd gets 150 and so on down to 16th which gets 10 points. The person with the highest total points wins. In the event of a tie, we use a randomizer to break it and choose a winner.

If you’ve played before, just use your existing account.  New players just need to fill out the easy registration form.  So what are you waiting for?  Get picking already!

Last Chance for the US Open Pick’em

On July 27, 2009, in Contests, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

The WPBA US Open kicks off this week, which means that you’ve only got a couple more days to get your picks in for the free WPBA Pick’em Challenge.  Same rules as always.  You pick the Top 8, the five best pickers win some dawg dough.

Lots of familiar faces for the most popular picks this time around.  Fresh off her win at the Borderline Billiards satellite event, Karen Corr is now the top choice to win the US Open. Despite a win at the WPBA Great Lakes Classic, Jasmin Ouschan has yet to crack the list of top vote getters.  The Top 5 picks look like this:

1. Karen Corr
2. Allison Fisher
3. Kelly Fisher
4. Ga Young Kim
5. Jeanette Lee

Unfortunately, there won’t be any live streaming, as the Riverwind Casino can’t spare the bandwidth, but I’ll be updating match scores in all of Sarah Rousey’s matches as they come in on Twitter.

WPBA Borderline Billiards Pick’em

On June 22, 2009, in Contests, WPBA, by Michael Feiman

We’ll be officially announcing this tomorrow, but our blog readers get to hear it first.  Since the turnout was so strong for the first WPBA pick’em event, we’ve decided to do another one before the WPBA US Open.  With that, we’re pleased to announce that PoolDawg’s WPBA at Borderline Pick’em is now open!

For those who haven’t heard, the WPBA is putting on a satellite event which is open to WPBA players as well as regional players who haven’t made it on the tour yet.  This event will be held July 10th through July 12th at Borderline Billiards in Bristol Tenessee.  In addition to WPBA regulars like Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Gerda Hofstatter, Karen Corr and Frank’s favorite temporary handler Sarah Rousey, you’ll also see the likes of up and comers like Rachel Eliazar, Briana Miller and most of the team that won the 2009 BCA Team Championships including Gail Glazebrook, Borana Andoni, Emily Duddy and Olga Gashkova.

Same rules as before.  You pick who you think will finish in the Top 8.  Points are awarded starting at 160 points for first place, 150 for second place all the way down to 10 points for 16th place.  The picker with the most points wins.  Just like last time, we’ll be giving out gift certificates to the Top 5 pickers:

1st Place: $100 PoolDawg Gift Certificate
2nd Place: $50 PoolDawg Gift Certificate
3rd Place: $25 PoolDawg Gift Certificate
4th Place: $10 PoolDawg Gift Certificate
5th Place: $10 PoolDawg Gift Certificate

Picks have to be in by midnight on 7/9/09.  The game is now open, so head over and make your picks.  If you played last time, just log in with your existing credentials and pick away.
