Bad News from Wisco…
A club in Wisconsin called The Retro Club was looking to host some teen nights from 8PM to Midnight on Sunday nights, but it looks like it isn’t going to happen. According to the article in the Wausau Daily Herald, the plan would have allowed youths ages 16 to 20 to enjoy dancing, darts, billiards and unlimited soda for an undetermined cover charge.
The idea is solid, but it was probably the wrong location to try and push this through. Apparently there have been problems with the club. “The location is not ideal,” Wausau Police Chief Jeff Hardel said. “We’ve had a lot of complaints from neighbors on this place.”
In addition, neighbors of the club, let their feelings be known as the three in attendance asked how the business could handle a teenage crowd when it can’t handle an adult crowd.
This is really a shame, because getting teens into playing pool is going to be a big part of growing the sport. That being said, it has to be done the right way in a safe environment. While The Retro Club failed, hopefully there will be other clubs that can find a way to provide a clean, safe place for teens to play pool.
