Deflection also has to do with a billiard ball deflecting off of another billiard ball.  Also, squirt is, for example, when the cue-ball and, say, the 9-ball are touching, squirt results when english is applied to the cue-ball so as to make the 9-ball travel off-course.  This is also called &quot;throwing the ball&quot;.</description>
